« Une commune humanité »

Au fil des ans et des voyages ou par-delà les frontières, le photographe s’inscrit en généraliste de l’image. Il porte en lui l’ambivalence de regards croisés sur notre commune humanité. Regards de colère contre la douleur qui infiltre tout et abolit le sens de la vie, colère contre l’injustice qui n’autorise pas à sa propre destinée. Cette quête d’instants rares et précieux ne cherche pas à gommer la réalité, mais plutôt à stigmatiser une société peu attentive aux difficultés des plus humbles. La photographie doit rester le plus souvent allusive afin de ne pas réduire un regard au désespoir ou dépouiller un corps en proie à la souffrance. Alors, quel que soit l’état de dépendance d’une vie, l’homme d’image ne peut se soustraire à cette loi morale que lui impose la rigueur photographique …

« A common humanity »

With the passing of years and the travels beyond borders, the photographer becomes a general practitioner of the image. In him there is the ambivalence of cross glances on our common humanity. Views of anger against the pain that infiltrates all and abolishes the meaning of life, anger against the injustice that disallows his own destiny. This quest for the rare and precious moment does not look to erase reality, but rather to stigmatise a society so little attentive to the difficulties of the most humble. Photography must remain most often ellusive, so that it never reduces a vision to despair or strip a hunted body its sufferance. Therefore, what ever a life depends upon, the man of image cannot pull back from this moral law that is imposed by the rigour of photography.
